Judiciary molests rape victim

In what can be considered a shocking sensation in the state, a 35 year old victim of rape has lodged a complaint against a judicial magistrate accusing him of molestation after he had summoned her for recording her statement under section 164 of the criminal procedure code. The incident took place in the Burdwan district.

A judicial magistrate had allegedly molested the victim while taking the statement while he offered to marry her.  The victim named judicial magistrate of Burdwan third court in her complaint. The district magistrate judge Adhikary has forwarded her complaint to the district judge that will finally reach the vigilance cell under the Calcutta high court on Thursday.

Earlier she was raped by one her in-laws according to the complaint lodged. She reported that they even tried to make her consume poison so she would stop screaming. A murder attempt of stabbing her to death was also performed.

The victim narrated her sorrows in a letter to the chief judicial magistrate on Wednesday.

"The CJM has forwarded the complaint to the district judge who will forward it to zonal judge and vigilance department of Calcutta high court tomorrow," the victim's lawyer said on Wednesday.

The accused magistrate was not available for comments.
