Sonia backs Manmohan on FDI at CWC meeting

Sonia Gandhi concurred with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's thoughts of an urgency to improve the economic conditions of the nation immediately as she endorse his reforms in the fuel price hike and the FDI in retail.

"There shouldn't be any roadblock to the reform measures," Sonia Gandhi said at the CWC meeting held today, Tuesday, in New Delhi.

She also lashed at BJP for their negative politics and chided the party to play the role of a responsible opposition for a better nation. Recalling the most interrupted parliament sessions since the inception, she said that BJP was resorting to blackmail the government.

Congress spokesperson Janardan Trivedi said that they discussed the flagship schemes Congress wanted to implement. He added that there was no talk on Telengana issue.

Over 30 members of the party had attended the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which was presided by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. P Chidambaram spoke on the need for more economic reforms for managing the fiscal deficit the nation is currently facing. PM also spoke on the same lines mentioning that the flagship programs intended for the poorer sections of the nation would not be effectively implemented until the a proper economy is achieved.
