PM to address nation on reforms tonight

Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, today would talk to the people of the nation via a broadcast on Doordarshan speaking of the controversial and highly opposed reforms for the Indian Economy that were made recently. Since the reforms there have been several protests by people and the political parties all over the nation. The whole country also observed a national bandh yesterday on the same account.

The addressing would be telecasted at 8pm on Doordarshan as the PM would speak on the recent decisions on economic reforms, according to officials.

He is likely to reason the debatable decisions of the FDI in retail and the record high hike in the prices of diesel and the cap on Subsidized LPG prices. He might even justify his actions while quoting his reasons to increase employment in the nation while promoting the economic growth by giving it a great push while stressing out that the decisions were in the interest of the country.

The Cabinet earlier on September 14 had mentioned that allowing the FDI in multibrand retail would "bolster economic growth and make India a more attractive destination" for foreign investment.

"I believe that these steps will help strengthen our growth process and generate employment in these difficult times," he said while seeking the support from "all segments of public opinion" for this.
