Bangalore News: Bus strike causes traffic snarls

Several commuters from living in and around Bangalore complained of large and tight traffic snarls today which were reportedly caused by a strike from the state buses. A few buses were also offered protection by the police.

"No untoward incident has been reported. We are providing escorts. Now the movement of KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) has started and we are hopeful that by afternoon, things will return to normal," the ACP for Law and Order, Suneel Kumar said.

Several angry commuters took to the microblogging site and vented their anger on the unforeseen traffic snarls. Kavya Christopher one of the angry ladies in the traffic jams tweeted, “Freaking traffic.... Bring those buses back on the road #bangalore”.

In another tweet one commuter mentioned that the strike had a great impact on the schools and other organizations that depended on them. “Hope the jokers on both sides resolve this”, he said, petulant with the traffic issue.

A few transport unions in the state are on strike to protest against new wages announced by authorities without consultations and negotiations.
