Youth dies hitting a pole from local train

A youngster who was traveling in the local train had died after he had accidentally hit a pole from the moving train on Friday in the afternoon. The unfortunate incident occurred when the train had passed the Dombivili station and was on its way to Thakurli.

Milind Patiyane, 22, who resided in Andheri, was an employee in a private courier company based in Santa Cruz. The DRP at the Dombivili station said that the incident took place just a few minutes before the clock struck one in the afternoon. He was traveling to Kalyan while standing on the footboard though the train was empty.

According to eye-witnesses he was on the foot-board of the train and stretching his arm when he accidentally hit a pole and lost stability. He then fell from the train. He was rushed to the Shastrinagar Hospital but was declared to be brought dead.

The youth was listening to music as the incident happened as the police observed his phone's loudspeaker turned on at the site of accident.

GRP officials said that it was not a new scene for the youth to be performing stunts on the local trains. They try and hit passengers traveling in trains coming from the opposite direction. A few such antics go awry and claims a few lives.
