7.9 earthquake near Philippines

Just off the coast of Phillippines an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the richter scale had hit on Friday and a warning had been issued in the countries in the region according to the U.S Geological Survey and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The Epicenter of the quake was 91 miles of the eastern coast of Guiuan in Samar while the earthquake originated from 20 miles under the level of sea according to the USGS.

A tsunami warning was issued for the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea and other islands in the Pacific including the U.S. state of Hawaii.
