More card to be launched today

The two year old dream of the government of Delhi, a common card that would allow the public to pay the fares for all the transport forms in the city, would soon become real after the ministry of the urban development in the city has planned to launch the More card on Saturday. This cashless transportation form would transform to become the single means of payment for all public transport and even the parking lots.

The More card can be used for Delhi Metro, state buses and also parking tickets. Initially the facility of payment for parking would not be applicable people can use it for Delhi Metro and the feeder buses for Metro.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC would make the More card available to the people from Saturday and the card would be, similar to the Metro Card, available for as low as Rs 50 as the prepaid balance.

They also have planned such that the card is viable all across the country. "It will increase the popularity and acceptability of public transport nationally," said the officials of the urban development ministry. There are plans being made for the cards being used for the parking meters that are to be installed soon in all the Metropolitan cities.

The use of the card in the Delhi Transport Corporation DTC would soon follow as the DMRC is also negotiation with the public transportation organization regarding the integration of the card. This would also mark the digitzation of fare collection systems of the state which had been a goal to be achieved by the state government.
