2 BSF soldiers injured in border firing by Pakistan

On Monday night , two soldiers from Border Security Force, BSF, were seriously injured in the border firings from the Pakistani side of the Line of Control and the International Border.

Officials said that heavy firing was started by Pakistani soldiers at Pansar post in Hiranagar sector, 90km away from Jammu. This was a violation of ceasefire for the second time in less than 24 hours.

Injured jawans have been admitted to the district hospital in Samba.

"The fire was heavy and appeared to target the patrol party," the official said.
Bhuvneet Singh from Gurdaspur of Punjab and Hari Mohan of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh were both in critical condition while they were admitted into the hospital.
Another such incident was recorded at Poonch on the Line of Control. The Pakistani Army had started a Heavy Fire at the Kirni Sector, 240 km from Jammu. A spokesperson from the army said that the fire might have been a cover for infiltrators. Indian army had retaliated to suppress the gun fire from the Pakistani side.
Not more than a day ago, the ceasefire was violated by the Pakistani Rangers in Arnia Sector near Jammu.
Security and vigil on the international border and LoC has been tightened ahead of Independence Day on Aug 15 when militants usually make attempts to strike.
