SC seeks Center on PCI's plea regarding restraining order

The Supreme Court had requested the Center's stand in the plea by the Press Council of India against the restraining order from Allahabad High Court which prevents media from reporting the movement of the soldier troops.

Justice HL Dattu along with the another Justice from the bench C K Prasad had notified the Union Government on the issue seeking its stand.

The high court on April 10 had passed the directions to all the central and state government authorities to ensure that the press doesn't release any information related to the troops either on paper or on electronic media,

PCI chairman and former apex court judge Markandeya Katju, have submitted a petition to the Supreme Court that the order is against the fundamental right under Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution was being violated which granted to the media and every citizen of the country.
