Power failure in North India, 6 states affected

A major power failure hit North India on Sunday causing trouble to the residents of 6 states. The states affected include Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Power System Operating Co PSOC, said that they were aware of the problem and working towards solving it. The engineers have been working since early morning to restore the power supply.

First preference was being provided to public services like the hispitals, railways and the Delhi Metro. The power cut has become a major problem to the commuters who take the Delhi Metro as the services were completely disrupted with the failure of the Northern Grid.

All the 6 corridors of the trains have been affected and the Metro services resumed an hour after the usual time. Most other regular trains have also been affected due to the failure.

No announcement has so far been made on the resumption of services.

There are several hundreds of passengers waiting for their trains indefinitely at the Hazarath Nizamuddin Railway station.

Rajasthan had a complete blackout from 1am to 5 am. Rail services in Haryana and Punjab were also greatly affected.

All major trains like Shatabadi Express, Chandigarh-Chennai train, Sadbhawna Express, Sachkhand Express, Rajdhani Express are among those hit by the grid failure. Jan Shatabdi train was also halted at Una.
