Sonia Gandhi meets party Mps in from all states

Congress supremo and president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday had met with the party's Mps in all the states to discuss about presedential election which is to be held on Thursday. The meeting was brief.

Union Minister Harish Rawat said that such meetings were a fomality to discuss before the presidential meetings. "Discussions took place about the process and procedure of voting," he said.

He denied the chances for cross voting in the UPA camp when he was asked about P A Sangma who was banking on a conscience vote in the presidential elections. He also said that the opposition is the one that should worry about any cross voting and emphasized that the UPA was intact.

He also told that Pranab Mukherjee had the support of JD(U), which is an ally of NDA, and Shiv Sena too already.

The congress MPs led by their respective leaders of the states had come to meet Sonia in different batches and most of them who discussed different topics of the polling were Union Ministers of the states.

Sonia Gandhi, according to sources, had asked the ministers to ensure everything goes the right way and that all formalities are completed.

It was speculated that the meeting would have something to do with Rahul Gandhi especially after it was mentioned that he would play a larger role in the party. But the party leaders had clarifed that the scenario was focused only on the polling.
