Aruna roys says "Government not serious about anti-corruption"

Aruna Roy, Social activist and Magsaysay Award winner, has been a prominent and a lading figure in the National Adivisory Committee (NAC), led by Sonia Gandhi, has pressed the government to hasten the procedure for passing the 2 important anti corruption bills, The Whistleblower Protection Bill and Grievance Redrassal Protection bill.

Roy in her later to Sonia stated that the government was not serious about the issues of accountability and corruption and that the governmant 'has' to look into the Whistleblower Bill and the Grievance Redress Bill. She said “Many RTI activists have been assaulted and at times killed too but there has been no real response from Rajya Sabha while the Whistleblower protection bill has not yet been passed, even after the Lok Sabha has passed them".

She also elucidated the importance of the Grievance Redressal bill that it plays an importance role in the providing protection to the Right to Information act allowing citizens to access all documents of public interest with not more than a short delay.

Roy stated in her letter that these were “two potentially landmark legislation” which the government should approve. Many activists have been protesting that the citizens should be provided the grievance redress which makes it mandatory for the government to react upon the complaints that the services of the government offices are not effective.
