State has no role in 26/11 attacks:Jilani

India in its talks with Pakistan emphasized that it would be a great step forward to build confidence if it surrendered those guilty in the Mumbai Attacks in 2008.

After the conferences bewteen the Foreign Secretaries Ranjan Mathai and Jalil Abbas Jilani for 2 days, they both agreed that the relationship between the countries can be normalized only by “narrowing divergences and building convergences”.

“We, the foreign secretaries were directed to discuss up on the issues of security and peace including IBMs among other matters. Jilani and I had discussions focussing on peace, security and terrorism.

“I emphazised the importance of bringing those guilty in the Mumbai attacks in bulding the confidence between the countries. I also explained the urgency that has been brought up on by the arrest of the LeT terrorist Abu Jindal. However, Jilani has rejected that the state had any role to play in the attacks of 26/11 but he was willing to conduct joint investigations on the same.”

After the conferences both the secretaries described the dicussions to be “ Frank, Substantiative and constructive”.
