Fire in Parliament

Close on the heals of fire in Mumbai, fire erupted in the Parliament, at Delhi on Sunday. Sources say that the fire in the home ministry office in the North block was put off by fierce fire fighting personnel. Fire was reported from the second floor of the building.  Seven fire engines were pressed in service insatntly and the flamnes were doused. Authorities say the situation has been brought completely under control.

A fire was reported at 2.20 pm in Room no. 102, which is next to Home Minister P Chidambaram's office. Seven fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.  "The control room recorded the information at 2:20 pm," said Delhi Fire Services Director, AK Sharma. He, however, could not confirm the cause of the fire but said it was minor in nature. "Cannot confirm the cause of the fire yet. Being a holiday, only security personnel were in the building. So, human intervention can be ruled out," Sharma said.
The damages are yet to be assessed as being a Sunday not many were present. No reports of casualities. Sources suspect a short circuit might have caused the fire.

Close on the heals of a block of the Maharashtra Secretariat on fire that claimed five lives makes the situation little shaky say observers. An investigative introspection is needed on the infrastructure of the prominent buildings feel public. (With inputs from internet-AarKay)
