Bail granted to Yedyurappa

In a relief to former Karnataka chief minister, Yedyurappa, Lokayukta Court has granted bail on Yeddy and housing minister V Sommanna in connection with alleged denotifaction of land.  Yedyurappa and Somanna appeared before the Court on Wednesday where they were granted bail. It may be noted that the police in March filed a report absolving the charges on the accused in land allocation case stating that Somanna was neither an MLA nor a minister and the question of misusing the power doesn't arise. The complainant, however, challenged the same B report  on March 29.

In the complaint, petitioner Ravi Krishna mentioned that Somanna used his influence to secure 22 guntas in Nagadenavahalli village for setting up a college, which was proposed to be run the latter's wife. The Lokayukta had found this case as a 'cognizable offence,' and subsequently Yedyurappa and Somanna moved high court for bail.
