Finally the debate on presidential candidate ended with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi declaring the name of Pranab Mukherjee as the presidential candidate.  The official announcement after a series of meeting with allies for the past two days.

With one of the allies of UPA, TMC expressing its displeasure over Pranab Mukherjee as the presidential candidate, UPA has sought the support of all political parties for Pranab Mukherjee. Meanwhile,  NDA has said that they won't be in a hurry to name a candidate for presidential election.

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee said former Indian president Abdul Kalam was ready to contest the presidential elections.

One has to wait for another couple of hours to know the reactions of other political parties over UPA's presidential candidate.
