Facebook launches new mobile applications in Indian languages

On Tuesday March 3 Facebook declared the launch of its mobile applications in three languages globally as Hindi, Malay and Vietnamese.In India initially the mobile users will be able to access in eight different languages as Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali and Marathi.

“This application will bring the same in-depth Facebook mobile experience, previously available in English, in Hindi to over 50 million Facebook users in India. The other seven local Indian languages will be rolled out in phases over the next few weeks,” it said.

Facebook’s country growth manager Kevin D’Souza said the launch of this mobile application in Hindi and the other languages will enable more people to connect and share with the people they care about anytime, anywhere. The application was originally launched in July 2011, and now works on over 3,600 Java-enabled phones around the world.

Mr D’Souza mentioned that there are over 50 million users in India and want to make sure that they have great facebook mobile experience irrespective of the device they choose to use.World wide 350 million access Facebook on mobile over total 800 million active users.
