Not obsessed of becoming PM: Rahul

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said today he was not obsessed of becoming the Prime Minister but obsessive of ensuring drastic changes in the way things are organized in UP.

Addressing a media conference at Varanasi, Rahul expressed anguish that people in UP have been fooled for the last 22 years. “It is a monumental mistake not to listen to the voice of the people,” he said. “I am obsessed to see transformation in UP,” he claimed.

Answering questions on corruption, he said he proposed constitutional status to the Lok Pal but the opposition had laughed at it. “But, one day, we will have a Lok Pal institution having constitutional protection,” he asserted.

Rahul, who has been on the campaign trial relentlessly in the UP elections, said certain beauty is found in the constitutional status of the Election Commission and wanted the Lok Pal also to have similar status.

Observing that BJP leader LK Advani has ignored corruption in the BJP ruled states, Rahul said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been trying to stall the constitution of Lok Ayukta there.

“I am not afraid of anything including black flags, shoe or even bullets,” he said, saying he would continue to express his opinions fearlessly. (JUBS)
