Fire at Delhi Airport at 1am today, no casualty, heavy material damage

A moderate fire broke out at the cargo terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport located in West Delhi, early this morning, no causalities reported. The fire that occurred at around 1am today lasted for about six hours. Approximately 35 fire tenders were fighting the fire, non-stop, to douse the flames. The police informed that there was no casualty. But sources say, crores of rupees worth damages could have occurred. The reason for the mishap is yet to be ascertained. Officials claim the accident as a `medium’ nature. Top police and fire officials had reached the spot and investigating the accident.

The cargo complex that houses the offices of ten major airlines including Air India, Gulf Air, Thai Air and Aeroflot have been gutted in the fire and the damage is estimated to be running into hundreds of crores.
