Journalist Smitha Rao, 30, who is working as Assistant Manager at the Infosys Technologies, today committed suicide at her apartment in Geddalahalli in Bangalore.
Smitha Rao earlier worked as special correspondent in Times of India and Deputy City Editor in the Bangalore Mirror.
Smitha Rao joined the content department of Infosys Technologies in 2010 and has been handling it ever since. The news of her death has come as a shock to her journalist friends. Most of her journalist friends visited her house on hearing the news.
On receiving a complaint form neighbors, police broke open the doors of her apartment and found her hanging. The police suspect she might have resorted to the extreme step of suicide under stress. “But, we have registered a case of suicide and will investigate it,” said a senior police official. (JUBS)
