Apex court to deliver order on Sept 21 on chamber B

AnanthatempleThe Supreme Court will pronounce its order on September 21 on the question of opening the controversial chamber B located in the cellars of the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala.

Reserving its order, the apex court said today it would fully respect the tradition but not the superstitions. The court heard the arguments of the erstwhile royal family of Travancore, the experts committee and the Kerala Government on the issue and then reserved its order to September 21.

The chamber’s proposed opening is being opposed by the royal family members who said that the chamber contained a Naaga Bandham and its opening will bring in disasters to the country. The apex court-appointed experts committee also said that the chamber should not opened till a proper security is provided to the temple and its wealth.

Responding to the arguments, the judges said they would pay highest respect to traditions but not to the superstitions and dogmas. “We will pronounce our order taking all issues into consideration,” they said.

While the Kerala government is opposed to bring in more CRPF personnel for the security of the temple, the experts committee wants more forces to be deployed there.
