Record number deportation by the US Federal Agency

FedaralAgencyJobless people resorting to evil designs to etch out a living on an alien land have created havoc across the globe. It is stated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removed nearly 400,000 immigrants from the country in fiscal year 2011 -- the largest number in the Agency’s history says the Director on Tuesday.

"Smart and effective immigration enforcement relies on setting priorities for removal and executing on those priorities," ICE Director John Morton said in a statement. "These year-end totals indicate that we are making progress, with more convicted criminals, recent border crossers, egregious immigration law violators and immigration fugitives being removed from the country than ever before."

The Obama administration has sought to highlight its efforts to focus on deporting individuals who have committed crimes. Earlier this month, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano defended the administration's immigration policies. Activists pushing for immigration reform have criticized President Obama’s approach as too heavy-handed, while Republicans have clamored for even more deportations. However the White House has maintained that President Obama favors both a secure border and reforms to offer a path to legal residence for those illegal immigrants who are living in the U.S. but otherwise observing its laws.
