KK Nagar police of the Chennai city summoned the former union minister Dayanidhi Maran’s elder brother and CMD of the Sun Network Mr Kalanidhi Maran to appear before them today in connection with a cheating case filed against his company by a Salem based film distributor.
The distributor gave a complaint that he was cheated by the Sun Pictures to the tune of Rs.83 lakh and the company threatened him with dire consequences when he sought his money back. Sun Pictures is part of the Sun Network.
The police had already arrested the company’s Chief Operating Officer Mr Hans raj Saxena in connection with the case and sent him to a 15-day judicial remand. After the arrest of Saxena, he was named as an accused in 8 more cases.
It is however not yet known whether sufficient ground was prepared for the arrest of Kalanidhi Maran too.
