Gandhian and social activist Anna Hazare declared that he was not afraid of death and challenged the government to send bullets into his body in case he re-launches his indefinite fast seeking stronger Lok Pal bill to end corruption.
Reacting to the reported remarks of the congress general secretary Digvijay Singh that Hazare will meet the same fate as yoga guru Baba Ram Dev if he goes on fast again, the aged anti-corruption crusader said that government can send bullets into his body if it is not happy with using lathis against the agitation.
“Let them send bullets into my body as I am not afraid of death. However, the people of the country will decide whether India is ruled by democratic rulers or dictators,” said Hazare undauntedly.
Meanwhile, Digvijay Singh said that he was wrongly quoted by the media and clarified that he never said that Hazare would meet the same fate as that of Ram Dev if goes on fast again.
Hazare earlier threatened to go on indefinite fast again from August 16 as the draft of the proposed Lok Pal Bill is very much disappointing.
It may be mentioned that the talks held between the civil society led by Anna Hazare and the government representative two days ago on finalizing the draft of the Lok Pal Bill had ended in failure with the civil society alleging that most of the proposals suggested by Hazare were removed from the draft.
