

Addressing a media conference in Chennai, Jaya said that Maran should quit his job and face legal proceedings honestly. “The Prime Minister should seek his resignation from the cabinet immediately,” she said. “I am quite confident that Manmohan Singh will do it.”
While congress refused to comment on the Telhelka story, Maran served a legal notice on the Tehelka management describing the news report as totally false, baseless and defamatory. Tehelka said in its story that Maran received kickbacks during his tenure as Union Communications Minister.
