Apple iPod launched in India

One year after its launch in the US, technology MNC Apple has officially launched its iPad in India today giving a big relief to people who are depending on grey market to buy it or Apple iPod in Indiaimporting it from abroad.

The iPad enthusiasts will now be able to get the device for Rs. Rs. 27,900 (Wi-Fi, 16GB) at its minimum and for Rs. 44,900 (Wi-Fi + 3G, 64GB) at its maximum, as per the details available on Apple’s website.

Apple stores across the country will display six versions of the iPad with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB memory space in Wi-fi and Wi-Fi + 3G versions. Apple has made available these different versions to cater to the demands of various users.

Agreeing that the price range of the Apple’s iPod is comparatively high, company spokesman Tripathi told media persons in New Delhi that they are only aiming at high price conscious consumers and not the mass market.

In India, the Apple iPad will have to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and the Olivepad, among others.
