Kuldeep Nayyar, noted journalist, joined the likes of ex Chief Election Commissioner, Lyngdoh and BJP, in turning the heat on the central government over continuance of P J Thomas as the Central Vigilance Commissioner. On the eve of Martyrs' day, five freedom fighters have gone on fast-unto-death at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, calling for the ouster of P J Thomas as CEC. Kuldeep Nayyar landed at the Jantar Mantar and lent his support to the freedom fighters who are demanding among the other things like tabling  LokPal Bill,barring criminals and corrupt politicians' entry into politics, freezing the assets of corupt politicians.

On his part, Thomas  maintained that there is no question of his demitting the office as he is a man with strong integtrity. It may be recalled that there are a couple of petitions filed in the Supreme Court, opposing the presence of Thomas as CEC. The principal opposition party in the Parliament, BJP has been asking for the chopping off his head ever since he has taken to the office, on the grounds of Thomas' involvement in import of Palmoline.
