Opinion polls predict two-thirds majority for TC-Cong

tmcTwo different opinion polls, one by the Headlines Today and the other by the Star Ananda-AC Nielsen, predicted that Trinamool Congress-Congress alliance will secure comfortable majority in the West Bengal assembly elections.

Headlines Today channel’s opinion poll, conducted by ORG on its behalf, said that the alliance will get 182 seats, 37 more than the required majority of 148 while the ruling Left Front will get 101 seats, 121 seats less than the number it won in 2006 polls. 

Headlines Today channel telecast a special program analyzing the opinion poll results. TMC had won 30 seats and Congress 21 in the 2006 elections.

The opinion poll conducted by AC Nielsen for Star Ananda News channel projected that TMC-Congress alliance will get two-thirds majority with 215 seats and Left Front will get Front 74 seats.

Headlines Today survey has not given any details about the break-up of seats projected for TMC and Congress combine and the Left Front but the Star Ananda-AC Nielsen poll said that TMC would secure 170 seats and Congress 45. “CPI (M) will get 63 seats, CPI (5), Forward Bloc (4) and RSP (2),” it said.
