New port near Nellore

The minister for ports and infrastructure, Ghanta Srinivasa Rao has said that another new port would soon be constructed in the state. He has said that the eligible place to set up port would be ascertained after the review meeting with the experts, who were already examining Duggarajapatnam, Ramayapatnam and Nakapalli areas.
The minister said that Duggarajapatnam was ideal for port construction, but then Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota has opposed to this proposal. He has also said even Pulicat bird sanctuary too expressed its displeasure over this idea. Therefore, he ruled out the possibility of port in Duggurajapatnam.
He has also said that several ministers stressed on the need of setting up airports at Nellore, Kadapa and Thadepalligudem and said he would examine the demands. Elucidating the developmental programmes at Krishnapatnam port, he said Krishnapatnam port would be made number one port in Asia.
