Ranga Rao files plea to turn approver, Nimmagadda facing imminent arrest

As stage is set for the APIIC-Emaar scam accused Mr Tummala Ranga Rao to turn approver, CBI is getting ready to arrest well known industrialist Mr Nimmagadda Prasad in the illegal properties case involving the YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan reddy.

Ranga Rao today filed a mercy petition in the special CBI court seeking pardon under section 306 of the Cr PC and to allow him to turn as approver in the case.

After preliminary arguments, special court judge Nagamaruthi Sarma deferred the case till March 2.

Meanwhile, Nimmagadda Prasad, accused number 12 in the Jagan properties case, turned up at the Dilkusha Guest House, the make shift office of the CBI around 2 PM on summons from the officials and was still at the Guest house when reports last came in.

Reports said the CBI would take him into custody at moment now. Prasad was earlier grilled by the CBI several times.

Prasad invested around Rs.504 Cr in Jagan-owned companies after getting several favours from the YSR regime. Jagan’s father and the late chief minister YSR allotted 15,000 acres of land in Guntur and Prakasam districts for the VANPIC (Vodarevu and Nizampatnam Port and Industrial Corridor) project owned by Prasad.

CBI has already got concrete evidence in shape of statements from the district collectors of the two districts. (J)
