Through an amendment to tax proposals in the Finance Bill for 2017-18, Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley for filing of income tax returns, has made Aadhaar mandatory and  to check the tax evasion through use of multiple PAN cards, provided linking of PAN with Aadhaar. “Every person who has been allotted PAN as on July 1, 2017, and who in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 139AA is required to intimate his Aadhaar number, shall intimate his Aadhaar number to the principal director general of income tax (systems) or DGIT (systems),” said the revenue department. Besides this, along with procedure for verification of documents filed with PAN application or intimation of Aadhaar number, with specifying the formats, standards principal DGIT (systems) or DGIT (systems) were passed. The revenue department said while amending Rule 114 of the I-T Act,  which deals in application for allotment of PAN, from July 1, 2017 the rules will come into force. Already, as many as 2.07 crore taxpayers have already linked their Aadhaar with PAN. There are more than 25 crore PAN card holders, in the country while Aadhaar has been issued to 111 crore people. The Supreme Court, earlier this month, had upheld the validity of an I-T Act provision making Aadhaar mandatory for allotment of PAN cards and ITR filing. But, a partial stay had been implemented, till a Constitution bench addressed the issue of right to privacy. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), consistent to this, said the Aadhaar-PAN linking is a “must” for filing of income tax returns (ITR) and obtaining PAN from July 1. Aadhaar, the biometric authentication is issued by the UIDAI, while the IT department allots the 10-digit alphanumeric number, PAN to individuals and entities. SUPRAJA

After he complained of chest pain on Tuesday night, he was admitted to JJ hospital in Mumbai for hypertension and diabetes. JJ Hospital Dean, TP Lahane said “He passed away due to a cardiac arrest on Wednesday at 2:30 pm.” Ironically, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had sought capital punishment for Dossa, arguing that his role in the blasts was “more severe” than that of hanged convict Yakub Memon. The court acquitted another accused Abdul Quayyum of all the charges. The co-ordinated blasts that ripped through the city on March 12, 1993 took the lives of as many as 257 people. Telangana Govt To Avoid GST On Bar License Fee? June 28, 2017 15:43

Telangana Govt To Avoid GST On Bar License Fee?:- To avoid paying tax to the Centre, the Telangana State Government has decided to skip Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the license fee paid by bars and the liquor shops. The Telangana Government has decided to follow the AP Government, which has already avoided paying GST, by introducing a new registration fee and reducing the license fee. The decision has been taken, since the state governments have to pay 18% GST on the license fee collected by them. From every wine shop, the government collects Rs 1.8 crore in license fee and for a bar license in Hyderabad, it charges Rs 40 lakh. The license fee in the districts for wine shops range from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, depending on the size of the population. There is a common license fee of Rs 40 lakh for bars. Moreover, if their annual turn over crosses seven times the license fee, the liquor shop dealers have to pay 14% tax. The AP Government, after bifurcation, removed this condition, but the Telangana Government continued with it. Now, the Telangana State Government, in the new liquor policy, is also thinking to remove this condition, which will only benefit to big dealers only. The big dealers will sell liquor at below MRP to increase their turnover, once the policy is removed. But, small dealers cannot. SUPRAJA

Another Global Cyber Attack Brings Major Firms Down Across Globe June 28, 2017 14:36

Another Global Cyber Attack Brings Major Firms Down Across Globe:- Russia's biggest oil company, Ukrainian banks and multinational firms have been affected by another major global cyber attack on Tuesday disrupting computers, just like a virus similar to the ransomware that infected more than 300,000 computers last month. There have been increasing concerns about the rapidly spreading cyber extortion campaign, that businesses have failed to warrant their networks from increasingly aggressive hackers. The hackers have shown that they are capable of shutting down the critical infrastructure and disabling corporate and government networks. It included a code known as “Eternal Blue”. The cyber security experts widely believe that the code was stolen from the US National Security Agency (NSA) and was also used in the ransomware attack, named "WannaCry”, last month. Chief Executive of Cyber Security firm Secure Ideas, Kevin Johnson said, “Cyber attacks can simply destroy us. To fix the problem, companies are just not doing what they are supposed to do.” By encrypting hard drives and overwriting files, the ransomware virus crippled computers running Microsoft Corp's Windows. To restore access, they further demanded USD300 in bitcoin payments. According to a public ledger of transactions listed on blockchain.info, more than 30 victims paid into the bitcoin account associated with the attack. The virus could spread through a flaw that was patched in a security update in March, said Microsoft. A spokesman for the company said, “We are continuing to investigate and will take appropriate action to protect customers.” Microsoft antivirus software detects and removes it, added the spokesperson. According to security software maker Kaspersky Lab, the countries which are most affected by the thousands of attacks are Russia and Ukraine, while the other victim countries affected by this virus include Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and the United States. In the wake of WannaCry last month, to protect them against attacks using Eternal Blue code, security experts said that they expected the impact to be smaller than WannaCry since many computers had been patched with Windows updates. Juniper Networks said in a blog post analyzing the attack, when compared to the traditional strains of ransomware, the attack could be more dangerous, because it makes computers unresponsive and unable to reboot. The attack may have borrowed malware code used in earlier ransomware campaigns known as "Petya" and "GoldenEye”, said the researchers. The businesses and consumers were advised aggressively by the governments, security firms and industrial groups, to make sure all their computers were updated with Microsoft patches, to protect against the threat, following previous month attack. The attacks are being monitored and are coordinating with other countries, said The US Department of Homeland Security. The victims were advised not to pay the extortion, saying that doing so does not guarantee access will be restored. The White House National Security Council, in a statement, said there was no risk to public safety currently. The attack is being investigated by the United States and determined to hod those who are responsible. The NSA however, did not comment any. The spy agency publicly has not said whether it built Eternal Blue and other hacking tools leaked online by an entity known as Shadow Brokers. “We believe Shadow Brokers is tied to the Russian government, and that the North Korean government was behind WannaCry,” said security experts. However, both the countries denied charges that they are involved in hacking. SUPRAJA
