India placed third in HIV Infected

United Nations has revealed that India has the third highest number of people with HIV infected with 2.1 millions accounting about four out of 10 people. The United Nations programme on HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS report said that 19 million out of 35 million infected with HIV don't know about their HIV positive status and requires smart people to end AIDS by 2030.

The report claimed that after Sahara-Africa region, Asia-Pacific region has the largest number of people living with HIV and estimates about 4.8 million. China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam contribute more than 90 percent people living with HIV.

Only 36 percent of people are getting treated for HIV in India while 51 per cent deaths are reported cause of this virus and 64 percent people won't have access to antiretroviral therapy treatment. The new HIV infections in India declined by 19 percent but it still accounts 38 percent for all new HIV infections and from 2005 to 2013 there was 38 percent decline in HIV related deaths. Over 7 lakh people got antiretroviral therapy by the end of 2013 and in female sex workers HIV infection dropped to 2.7 from 10.3. however, HIV infection reported high in Assam, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh states.
