Trying for `Zero size,’ use red cutlery

Uneven eating and drinking habits coupled with stress and strain have a huge toll on our body. In addition hectic schedules too help us in bloating, without time for exercise.
Under these severe situations, what is the way to slim down, right from pills to juices, we are ready to try, to maintain a balanced figure of our dreams. But how far have been successful is the question. And if you were successful you would not have been watching this space either. But there is something interesting that has appeared in the journal Appetite.

The study conducted on 41 male students by German and Swiss researchers’ state that colour red may persuade diners to evade eating extra because it is usually linked with the thought of danger, stop or veto, the Daily Mail reported. It proved that those who consume or drink from red plates or red cups take 40% less, than their regular counter parts. The students were asked to drink tea from cups marked with red or blue labels. They drank 44 per cent less from cups with red labels.

Encouraged by the results they went on to conduct the second stage of the research in which they had given 10 pretzels each on either a red, blue or white plate, to 109 people. Those with a red plate ate fewer pretzels.

Based on their findings the researchers recommended the Governments and food industry to use red packaging on unhealthy foods as a deterrent, and could even use red colour in pubs to prevent people from drinking too much.

Sounds good na!! Why don’t you give a try and tell us your point of view. Watch out for more interesting facts on health, in these columns. (AarKay)
