Nani this lad is obsessed with Mani Sharma movies. He might have watched his movies a hundreds of times. Some of his friends even made fun of him for that. Some even said that he is nuts. No matter what others think, he never stopped watching Mani Sharma’s movies until the DVDs got worsened. The boy kept Mani’s photograph in his wallet and searched for stories. Finally his fortune took him to film industry and made him an actor. And that lucky boy is “Ashta Chamma” fame Nani. Nani has done a couple of films and got noteworthy identity in very short span. Ashta Chamma, Ride, Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu and now S.S.Rajamouli’s “Eega”. His latest movie “Ala Modalandi” is ready to hit the silver screens. So this young lad has had a brief chat with a leading newspaper that says…How is your filmy journey? It is going extremely good and I am here getting more than I deserve. I am extremely happy with my filmy journey. It looks like that the reason for your extreme happiness is Eega of Rajamouli?Ofcourse. It is one lucky that i have never expected. I have never even dreamed that I would be a part of S.S.Rajamouli’s movie. And now my latest movie “Ala Modalaindi” is also a very good one, I hope youth loves it.How does “Ala Modalaindi” movie happened?Director Nandini Reddy and myself are good friends. I know her since i used to work as an assistant director. She has told me about "Ala Modalaindi" then itself. I was able to predict the movie, when Nandini prepared this script. It is not a regular love story, but a more simple and realistic one. She has made it according to the taste of today’s generation.Viewers are expecting freshness in movies rite?Freshness doesn’t mean something that is not happening anywhere across the globe. Our movie has freshness, but it is the collection of real life incidents one probably have witnessed in one’s own life. While watching the movie you would feel that you done something like the character does. In fact you do not see any characters there. So it is new and fresh according to me.You have entered this industry as an assistant director, and director Nandini Reddy is your friend. Did youadvice her anything while making the movie?I believe it is the weird thing one can do. One can advice the director if one doesn’t believe in director’s capability. Nandini Reddy is an experienced director. And a director inside me can be used only to understand the story, I am just an actor while acting. All the young heroes are striving hard to acquire mass image. Are you looking forward for the same?Mass hero need to fight a lot and beat bad people black and blue. Do you think I can do that? Well it is upto viewer to feel the need to fight. So what kind of roles suit you?I do not want to limit myself to particular kind of roles. I want to do everything and anything. I got several offers similar to my role in “Ashta Chamma” after that movie, but I denied them because I wanted to do different kind of roles. So I took up Ride, Bheemili, Ala Modalaindi. They are very different from one another.what are your upcoming projects?Currently I am working in “Pilla Jamindaru”. And a Tamil movie “Veppam” under Gautham Menon’s direction. The movie is ready to release.

You emerged winner for this Sankranthi with your release ‘Mirapakaay. How are you enjoying the success?Excellent. I am enjoying this Sankranthi with complete satisfaction. Though we are confident of hit, none of our unit members had expected such a huge success. We did not except such massive revenue for my film and I not even dreamt that the flick would remain my career best and is getting record collections. My director had good relationship with almost all the distributors. Whenever they call him up and reveal the collections’ record, Harish Shankar in turn is calling me and giving me those details. It is a marvelous experience. Let me tell you one thing. In some centers, there were mild lathi-charges at the theatre as the audiences are vying with each other for tickets, which is really great. Literally, I learnt the sweetness of success with ‘Mirapakaay. Not only me, our entire unit is enjoying this Sankranthi on a grand scale.Whom do you name for the success of “Mirapakaay”?The success credit would totally goes to the director of the film Harish Shankar. Because, he involved in the shooting from the day one to the till finish of the movie. He used to think twice for betterment of each and every scene, even when he was asleep. We just followed his instructions and performed before the camera. We did not intentionally contribute anything for the success of the movie in any angle. Can you please tell us about the technicians who worked for your movie? When I talk about technicians I should first talk about my editor Mr. Gautam Raju. This is the 200th movie for him and he has done extremely great job. When I look at the film now, I wonder if this is my movie. He was involved in every bit of post production and I should say I’m honored of working with a great technician like Mr. Gautam Raju. Mr. Ramprasad is my DOP and he has earlier worked with V V Vinayak, Surender Reddy and Raja Mouli. I was bit tensed how would it be working with a DOP who worked with such senior director but all tension went away after shooting 5-6 scenes. He is extremely professional and work oriented. For directors who want to do their movies quickly, ram Prasad is the best DOP. My Art Director Brahma is very devoted and worked round the clock. He is always there discussing with everyone how to improvise. He has done extremely good job in provided whatever shoot demanded. Raju Sundaram and Ganesh Master did choreography. What more can we say about Rajusundaram? Ganesh master designed adhigora choodu song very well matching RaviTeja’s style. Ram lakshman did fights for the movie and I’m very happy with the action sequences. Can you please tell us about other artists?Brahmaji played a very important role in the movie. He has a very different character. Thanks to Sunil who acted on my request even after becoming hero. Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Ali did very good job. Each character will have a purpose in the movie. What are the highlights behind the success of this movie? Tell us your opinion…Raviteja did a one man army show to this cinema and almost he covered 96% of the movie with his presence. His energy levels is simply superb and we can enjoy with his dialogues where he used commonly punch dialogues on others.Mass raja turns in to sankranthi raja became a winner to this season. How far,Thaman’s music helped for the success of the movie? Thaman is concentrated more for Raviteja.”Viashali…” and “Mirapkaay….” songs become a good musical numbers and remaining are like drum sounds. How did you feel working with Deeksha & Richa? Are they cooperative? They are very cooperative girls. They did not trouble anyone in the unit and had never showed any ego during shooting, though they are the upcoming heroines of Tollywood these days. They really did well. What are your future projects? Who will be the producers? You will hear about my next project very soon.

I have seen the difference between victory and flop. My flops were very good lesson for me. But I know only one thing that’s to do my own work. How much efforts will be present for heroine to make that movie a big success?Heroine plays a very important role in the movie likewise the heroine would also plays very important role in getting that movie a big success. That’s my opinion.Your Co heroines are doing lady oriented movie? When you are going to do that kind of movies? If I get that type of story then I will definitely do that. 'Chuttiyam Sulphate' has managed to create a rage August 04, 2010 10:37

Vidya was born in the Tamil-speaking Balan family on January 1, 1978 in Palghat, Kerala, India. Her familyconsists of her dad, P.R. Balan, who is the Vice-President of ETC Channel; mom - a home-maker, and an elder sister, Priya, who is married to Kedar. She also has an aunt by the name of Raji Raju. The Balan amily re-located to live at Road No. 11, near Ambedkar Garden, Chembur, Bombay, when Vidya was very young. She tudied in St. Anthony's Convent School, and thereafter in St. Xavier's College from where she obtained a egree in Sociology. She then went on to obtain a Masters degree in Sociology from Bombay university. She also studied and performed in Prithvi heaters' workshops. Due to tradition of most Tamil-Iyer families, Vidya and her Priya learned arnatic dance form during their early childhood days, but Vidya opted out as the dance classes took place early on Sunday mornings and as she is not an early riser. Considerably overweight, rather tomboyish, uring her school-days, and an ardent fan of Shahrukh Khan, she decided to shed those extra pounds when she elected to opt for modeling and movies. How would you describe Krishna Varma of Ishqiya? You've got this interesting dialogue in the film which goes,' Ishq mein sab bewaja hota hain….Ishq mein sab bewaja hota hai!...haan hota hai! (laughs). In love you do things for no rhyme or reason. You just do it for the sake of love. That's what 'Ishqiya' is all about. It's about how three people who find love and how love takes them on separate paths. And yet, the path of love is just one. It's the entire trip of love that 'Ishqiya' is all about. Krishna, my character in the film is an extremely passionate woman. She loves as passionately as she hates when she is conned. Krishna does not take things lying down. She is very aggressive with a certain sexual aggression in her. You have worked with Arshad Warsi earlier in Lage RahoMunnbhai, while you're working for the first time with Naseeruddin Shah in this film. How would you describe the experience?I may have worked with Arshad Warsi before, but we've not really shared screen space in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'. He is, by far, one of our most versatile actors and is fairly under utilised. And about Naseersaab, what can I say that has not been said before? He is an institution. It was a pleasure to be working with him. What I really admire about Naseerbhai is that here there is a certain pressure to tow the line, to be a certain way. And although he's been here in Hindi films for about 25 to 30 years, or more, he is who he is and nothing ever changes that! Surely, he is this acclaimed actor but he does not behave in a manner that you would expect him to. In our industry, they are constantly trying to make you fit into a certain mould and he has resisted that. I think that's what I most admire about him. What's your take on director Abhishek Chaubey who debuts with Ishqiya? He's extremely intelligent, well read and focused, and so he knows how to put that knowledge to use. He knows what his story is and how he wants to tell it. Though he was open to suggestions, he was extremely clear on what he wanted. My wishes for him, though, are that he always remains the fine person that he is.The phrase 'Chuttiyam Sulphate' has managed to create a rage. What was your reaction and did you ever expect that it would catch the fancy of people?Honestly, I thought it was damn cool! (laughs). I know that the phrase is often used in the North. Krishna is basically a rough and aggressive woman who would use that kind of language. So it was not really a surprise for me that she spoke like that. As Vidya, I was a little uncomfortable initially, but as Krishna it came very naturally. And I knew that people would catch on to it in no time. Were you upset when you were linked you with your mentor, Pradeep Sarkar the director of Parineeta?Initially, it would irritate me but l've learnt not to pay heed to it. Dada and his wife are like family to me. I go by what my dad says, tough situations don't last tough people do'.What does love mean to you?Love is essential for every human being to survive. It's the unconditional feeling that makes you look beyond yourself And right now, I am in love with my work. I don't want to get into a relationship just for the heck of it. It will happen when it has to.

Frankly speaking, Till date I have not come across any point in my LIFE August 03, 2010 19:01

Possessing a beautiful face and a mesmerizing smile, Ayesha Takia is one such actress who is capable of winning over people with her performance as well as sweet talk. Another interesting thing about Ayesha is that the cutie has been able to win applauses from the audience both for her roles in serious films as well as in comedy.First pay check?Very exciting- I’ve been earning something since I was a child. Recently I have bought a car-my Honda city and I am thrilled.Strengths - Tarzan was my defining point-. I enjoy being in front of the camera and playing characters. I tend to let go of everything else and just be that person.Weakness - I am so new and have a long way to go but my directors are important-whatever they visualize I try to give them exactly that- I think that’s the best I can do. I have lots of weaknesses because I lack experience. One can’t learn acting but one can be experienced at acting and I think I lack that. That’s all I need and I will only have that as I go long.First autograph? Many, I have put autographs even in school. In my school my friends made me sign a bench. Recently two boys came up and asked me to sign on their hand. Yesterday we admitted my grandmother in hospital and the nurses came running to take my autograph. While preparing for a comic role you watch a lot of cartoon shows. Which among them is your favorite?I personally liked ‘Donald Duck’ and ‘Mickey Mouse’ a lot and this is also because of the voice-overs in these shows. I also liked ‘Tom and Jerry’, but this is a silent cartoon show and hence I did not get much to learn from this show. According to you, are you a serious actor or a comedy film actor?I consider myself both. For instance, DOR is such a film that even after 20 years I would feel proud to talk to my children about my performance in the film. On the other hand, I have done some light or comedy films. I am of the opinion that as an actor, I should act in both kinds of films because acting in a particular type of film would not only put a stamp on an actor, but also bore him or her. Which do you feel was a turning point in your career?Frankly speaking, till date I have not come across any point in my life that I can call a turning point. But I am really hoping for a turning point in my life. All I need is a super-duper hit film and a character that no one has performed so far, so that I can satiate the artist in me. However, I am quite happy with my present situation. Some of your films like SALAAM-E-ISHQ and FOOL AND FINAL flopped despite having big names and great casting. What is the reason behind this?It has often been seen that when we expect a lot from something, it generally deprives us. It is mostly a matter of luck and chance. What about your sex appeal?I believe in my behavior, and I consider it my sex appeal. So how was the Honeymoon trip?“We went all over Europe for our honeymoon. Farhan (her hubby) knows London well because he studied there. We relaxed, walked the streets, went into cosy cafes. Now we’re back in the heart of Mumbai,” says Ayesha. What's the best compliment you have ever got?An elderly lady came up to me in a restaurant to say that she rarely watches Hindi films but loved my performance in Dor.Any bad experiences of stardom?Thankfully not, because I never venture out alone. My mother is always with me and I am always surrounded by my family and staff.

I don't create singers. I try to polish, August 03, 2010 14:41

It's difficult to make Oscar winner, music maestro A R Rahman speak...he lets his music do all the talking. He Shared some moments during his visit.Now-a-days you are lending your voice more frequently in your compositions for films. So are you planning to try playback singing regularly? You know what, whenever I give a tune to a director, he always asks me: 'Why don't you sing this song?' And I always shriek away and say: 'No...no!' This happens with most directors. But I have to play objective. However, there are times when I feel that my voice will do better justice to a particular song. Given an option, will you sing for other music directors too?At the moment Rahman, the singer, has signed his own films. But in future I might sing for other composers as well (smiles). You have often said that you are a great admirer of Kishore Kumar?Yes, that's why every year on his death anniversary I don't sit and regret the loss; but celebrate it...I celebrate Kishore's voice; even his acting.Do you consider 'Jai Ho' as your best creation?Sometimes it's not about a best creation, but the best for a particular moment of the film. 'Jai Ho' was right for that particular moment, that particular mindset inSLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. I know there's lot of debate over this song winning the Oscars. But then, I didn't send the song to the Oscars, the makers did.How has Oscar changed your life?Oscar was difficult to handle. The first three months after the award was crazy...I was flooded with people...the social etiquettes that I had to maintain. Then I wentfor hibernation and spent quality time with my music. Now I am back to normal life.Of all your creations, which one is your personal favourite?I never try to answer that question or else people will get angry. But then, ROJA is my first love and all the songs of ROJA will always remain special to me. It was my first film and I worked on the music with so much love and passion; well, I still do that for all my films, but then ROJA is my first love. What should a singer do for making a sustainable career? The only way out is to be original. How come your music is always fresh?I try to make sure that I don't repeat my music. The audience doesn't like old and expects to listen to new music every time. So, I make experiments in music.Who do you like in our music industry? They are all talented singers. Udit Narain, Sukhvinder Singh, Sonu Nigam and Shaan can be counted among them.Would you agree that you have created many singers?I don't create singers. I try to polish them though. What's the difference between composing music for yourself and for other directors? When I compose music for myself, I do it according to my perception. In case of providing to other directors, I try to comply to their taste.  What are your future projects?'Raavan' has just released. I am doing Mani Ratnam's next. There are a few others like 'ROBO'.,

Premakavali Adi February 27, 2011 18:33

The dialogue master Sai Kumar brought out his all-rounder son Adi from the confines of school and cricket ground to the sets of Vijay Bhaskar. The hero who is capable of giving an all-round performance on cricket field with batand ball has displayed his inbuilt confidence in shaking his legs with another debutant Isha Chawla. It’s Vijay Bhaskar who has his credentials well established as a director under whose guidance Adi is penetrating into Tollywood which still being dominated by the 50 plus heroes like Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and Balayya. So under this competitive atmosphere Adi has vowed to put all the training into use and establish himself as a notable hero. His father’s command in the industry as the dialogue king will no doubt ease the resistance but still it is the talent that counts. Adi shared with media on a shot chit chat.About his education: he started schooling in Chennai in Padma Sheshadri till 7th and then moved to St Andrews at Hyderabad followed by St Johns for Intermediate and Bhavans for Degree.  He further added though he had liking towards acting, he had to refrain from declaring to his dad and instead concentrated on studies and sports.   On his extra-curricular: he fondly recollects that cricket was his passion and being an all-rounder he was selected for under 19 Ranji cricket team.  He happened to play under the captaincy of Ambati Rayudu, the climax being Pragyan Ojah, the Indian team player staying as room-mate during their Sri Lanka trip.About entry into movies he said that he was undergoing some dance training as well as cricket coaching.  It was during that period his dad organized a programme called KALA (Karnataka Andhra Lalithakala Academy) for which Chiranjeevi was the chief guest. A dance event performed in front of Chiranjeevi made all the changes for him as Chiru advised him to develop upon the skill and try the luck in movies.  Thus he says that he could convince his father also about the hidden desire.  From then on it was more of training and learning that has brought him to this stage.  About training: he was quick to add a long list of trainers under whom he learnt the dances, fights, acting, dialogue delivery, etc.  So it was Lawrence masterfor dances, Pandian master for fights, Vizag Satyanand for acting and Kakarala for dialogues.  About the way he was offered a role in the ‘Prema Kavali’ he narrates a chain of events.  He said that he used to capture his actions during training and send them to his father through MMS which his father used to show to his close friend Dr Venkat, who is the owner of RR Movie Makers.  It was Dr Venkat who ultimately gave him a opening through K Vijay Bhaskar.  About his experience in his debut film he said that he was a bit hyper-active in pushing things a bit faster but he felt good as he was able to dub well as well as feel at ease in all aspects like dances, fights and dialogues.  While on the movie he said that it was a kind of love story with a feel good factor and his role was that of a college going youth by name Seenu havinginterest in NCC activities.  About his personal opinion on ‘Prema Kavali’ his answer was very simple and straight giving credit to the director that the movie has the imprint of Vijay Bhaskar in every aspect. About his setting an image in the industry he chose to reply that he would wait to see the audience reaction and accordingly tread on a path.  About his pass time, as expected his reply was that his command over many languages keeps him engaged with different movies and programmes which he enjoys with certain selective personal friends.

Asin has become the toast of Tamil cinema July 30, 2010 11:22

Ever since Ghajini released to a thunderous public response, Asin has become the toast of Tamil cinema.Your mother is a doctor. Generally, we see children trying to emulate their parents but you chose a different career. Were you a starry eyed youngster? No, not at all. Both my parents are well educated; my father worked for the CBI before becoming a businessman, and my mother was a civil surgeon. But I did not want to be a doctor.I started learning Bharatnatyam from the age of three. I have also learnt folk dance. In school, I was good in academics and extra curricular activities. I even topped the state in French in my Std 12 exams.Did you expect Ghajini to be such a huge hit? When I listened to the script, I knew it would be successful. I am very selective about my projects. I have a few criteria that I look into when I accept films. First, I look at the story, then my character, the director and the banner. The last criterion is the hero. You seem multi-talented. Do you sing as well?I am not formally trained but yes, I do sing. In fact, Vijay has asked me to sing for a film.I used to hum on the sets and hearing me hum, he asked to me sing in a film. I had joked, 'if you sing, I will sing with you,' not knowing he has sung for films. Your father always accompanies you for shoots. Is the industry a bad place for a young girl to be all by herself? It depends on how you are. I don't feel scared being alone. I am very independent. But my father wants to be with me because he feels that he should be there for me in case I need him. I am very happy that he's with me because I don't need a manager to look after my career. My dad does everything for me. It is so much easier to manage things when it is your father who is taking care of things for you.Do you miss having fun with friends like other college girls?I still have my old friends. Whenever I go home, they meet me, and we have a blast. But I enjoy what I am doing. Only when you are not enjoying what you are doing, you miss something else. I will quit whenever I find that I am not enjoying my career. I take a break on very special days like Onam or my birthday. What do you do when you have free time?I read a lot. I spend a lot of money on books. My flat is on the tenth floor overlooking the Arabian Sea. You can see the sunset from my window and balcony. The perfect day for me would be snuggling in the favourite corner in my room near the window on a rainy day. That's bliss! What next?A Walt Disney production titled 19th Step with Mr. Kamal Hassan and the Japanese actor Asanu. It is based on Indian martial arts.

If you are happy then you will make others happy too.. July 30, 2010 09:23

Venkatesh’s Career started with “Kaliyuga Pandavullu”. Making improvements from movie to movie with unique stories, he is shining with super hit movies, he also received a State Nandi Award as best actor for his excellent performance in the movie “Aada vari maatalaku Ardhale verule”.Far away from the happiness, by wins and loses or through awards and realizing, daily through his contemplation that real and permanent happiness is within oneself, Venkatesh stopped responding towards material things long time ago, but he is never negligent in discharging his responsibilities as a human being. What are the details of your new cinema? We are making the movie. We will let you know complete details soon.If the combined remuneration of hero’s, heroine’s and director’s is exceeding the cinema business amount do you think multistarer will come?If hero’s and director’s can come to an understanding either after completing the cinema business or after movie release and share percentage profits then multistarer will come otherwise in Telugu it is very difficult for multistarer’s to come. What is your take on budgets of big heroes?I can’t comment about other big heroes. As far as I am concerned I make sure that the producers book profits before the release in 99% of the time. There could be one or two projects that are exceptions. I came from the family of a producer and I make sure that producer is happy all the time. What are your interests other than movies?Spirituality. I now know that happiness & bliss is not outside but within me. I enjoy myself by seeing at my happiness, experiencing and feeling it. That does not mean that I forget my responsibilities. I fulfill my responsibilities as a son, as a father, as a husband and as an actor even as I continue my spiritual journey.Since you are in Spiritual path will you act in any spiritual movies in future?Definitely I will act. I am thinking of playing as Vivekananda. I will do if the script is satisfactory. We need good script. What is a good cinema in your opinion?Good and bad are relative and change according to time, trend and situations. What is good script 5 years ago may not be that good now. In this season what stood as the best cinema, might become normal cinema after 4 years. Every now and then even if a good script comes we may think otherwise. In one mood we might think a normal subject is good one. Just imagine what happens when a person sees different angles as an actor, critic, audience and producer and judges it. It is luck that sometimes in this state of confusion too we manage to get hit pictures. What is the one thing that makes you happy? In the early age of my life, knowing that God is not outside but he is within me and in every one, makes me very happy. If God asks you to desire a boon then what would it be?When god already gave everything then what is there to ask. We all came from him and we’ll all go back to him. There is nothing for us to desire. You are a follower of Ramana Maharshi. What can you say about him?Not only him, I follow every one, Jesus, Allah, Sai Baba, Buddha… all of them have been recognized by public as, gods are they and they are gods. We must feel that we are gods. We must not gain knowledge and remain intellectuals. We must merge in it.Do you do Yoga and Meditate?Meditation is part of life. Always when you do something you do like meditation by involving yourself in it fully. There is no need to worry about the outside world. If you are happy then you will make others happy too. That is my policy.Lets talk about movies again. What do you say about awards? In the early stage of your career awards give you encouragement. Now at this stage I am not seeking anything. If I get it I take it. Rehman expected Oscar during “Lagan” time. He did not get it. But now, he did not expect it but he got 2 Oscars. We won’t get it as we are looking for it. That does not mean that if we are not looking for it we will never get it. We must work hard and be sincerely do our work.Spiritually you have traveled so far but what about your family members? They are also in that path. When did this spiritual awakening begin?During “Preminchukundam ra” cinema success I traveled all over AP. In that tour the questions “who am I” started.

I'm a perfect girl says AISHA July 28, 2010 15:03

Sonam Kapoor is in her mid twenties. But when you meet her, you wonder, and that maybe the IMDb has got her age incorrect. Sonam looks like she is just about to turn eighteen in her new film Aisha. She is getting younger with each film, and that's so true when you see her from Saawariya to Delhi 6 to I Hate Luv Storys. This paradoxical mix of adult and youth goes someway to explaining why Kapoor is the talk of the town. Sonam has made a remarkable career out of such intriguingly offbeat decisions. whenever we look at Sonam Kapoor, we see a true Indian Cinderella on the threshold of a brilliant ongoing career, and Aisha is one of the many adjectives coming her way.Want to know more about a professional from a professional. Sonam Kapoor on Rhea Kapoor. Rhea is young and filled with lots of energy. She is very bright and extremely practical. She has a vision and is hard-headed too. Because she is young and creative, she can take chances and be courageous. Aisha is a bold step to take for our first film together as a family. How much money have you been spending on the streets of Edinburgh?(Laughs). I've just come out of Top Shop and destroyed myself. I've gone on an insane shopping spree. I haven't got a chance to enjoy IHLS success. I am shooting here for Mausam with Shahid Kapoor and will miss the after party of IHLS.So, can you take us into the sweet world of Aisha?Of course yes. It's her world, her friends, her aesthetics, her energy, her love, her vibrancy, etc. Aisha is a happy girly person who is as strong as an individual. But she is soon going to transform herself from a girl to a woman. That's what Aisha is about. It's a coming of age story and a chick flick, as we all love to put it. What's important is the fact that Aisha has a certain growth to her character which makes her world more interesting. And how was the in-his-own-space Abhay Deol? Did he make you feel like a weirdo just like him?(Laughs) Abhay and I share very similar acting styles. The energy between us actually translates. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I told him that I need to work with him again. We had a blast and I am missing him now (laughs). We shared a give and take relationship. What not many know about us is that we both are emotional actors. I want to do lots of movies with Abhay Deol.So now that IHLS worked in the overseas, will it give Aisha that extra nudge?Well, I hope so. I'd love to interact with the media and my fans in London. Yes, Aisha will give that extra push because IHLS worked but any film, be it Aisha or any of my forthcoming releases will only work if the story is up to the mark. The same audiences who loved IHLS have hated many of the past films released in the overseas. But the initial nudge will be there.Your smile is so infectious that it wouldn't be a bad idea to launch a 'foot long smile' Subway around the globe.(Laughs) Thank you so much. I think it's not a bad idea. I'd love to have one on my way to London. But do keep me posted on the 'sub' front (laughs). So, were you more impressed with the book or the film Emma?I think the book is a better version for me. I liked the film too but the book gives you more depth. Aisha isn't a rip off from any film. It's basically about a girl who is constantly match-making and the whole film is centred on Aisha and her bunch of friends. For Aisha, you need people around her to challenge her, to interact with her, to speak to her, to cry and laugh with her. That's what the film does. It's a great ensemble film. And how was it to drive in the cute yellow 'Beetle'?I love it. I am a crazy girl when it comes to driving. I love driving fast and Beetle is so girly and cute. It's a perfect girl's car. I am soon going to get one for myself. How different is your couture in Aisha compared to that of IHLS?It's diverse. It's like chalk and cheese. IHLS had me dressed up in casuals throughout. I was simple and yet colourful because I was an ordinary girl. It's a tough act to follow and Manish pulled it off well. In Aisha, I'm a perfect girl who wants to be dressed up in high end designer outfits. I get what I want. It's edgy in a way.And before we disconnect, how close is Aisha for Anil Kapoor?Aisha is his third child. He is very emotional because it's his first production with both his daughters in it: One as an actor and one as a producer. My father trusted everything that Rhea did for this film and is backing us all the way to make sure Aisha reaches out to the audiences who've loved him for three decades. Aisha is a complete film for all of us. It's a part of this family.

Angelina is completely a goddess July 28, 2010 14:18

NEW DELHI : Australian director Phillip Noyce of "The Bone Collector" fame loves telling spy stories. And in Angelina Jolie, he says, he has "the perfect spy" for his latest film "Salt" because she is so attractive."They say that as humans we trust people who are attractive more than people who are not attractive. So Angelina makes the perfect spy because she is completely a goddess," Noyce told IANS in a telephonic interview from Washington. The 60-year-old is busy promoting "Salt", which was originally written around a male sleeper spy. But when Tom Cruise turned down the role fearing the character was too close to his "Mission Impossible" (MI) character Ethan Hunt, the script was changed into a female centric story. This is the second time Noyce has directed Jolie, after the 1999 crime thriller "The Bone Collector".Distributed by Columbia Pictures, the action thriller also stars Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejioforthe and releases worldwide on July 23.It will hit Indian screens in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and the director is quite positive about the response."Indian audiences love spectacle. They like complicated stories, action and I believe they love Angelina Jolie. I hope that they find this film really entertaining and a wonderful ride like a roller coaster," he said.Q. Is it true that Tom Cruise was first choice for "Salt"?A. Tom Cruise was one of the actors I was talking to when the part was originally written for a man. When Tom decided not to play Edwin A. Salt, we moved on to Angelina.Q. So how different is "Salt" from the MI series?Q. Ethan Hunt is a man and Evelyn Salt is a woman. That's the first way of differentiating them. "Salt" is much more reality-based. It's mainly real people placing themselves in real danger on the screen. There's very little CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) in "Salt".Superficially there are similarities between "Mission Impossible" and "Salt". Ethan Hunt's missions are always larger than life and fantastic - no criticism of them all but they are not meant to be believed.Q. And does Jolie make a better spy than Tom Cruise?A. They say that as humans we trust people who are attractive more than people who are not attractive. So Angelina makes the perfect spy because she is completely a goddess.Q. Looking at your credits like "Patriot Games", "Clear and Present Danger", "The Saint" and now "Salt" - are you fascinated by spy and crime thrillers?A. My dad was a military spy during the second world war. So I grew up on such stories. As a result of my father's job, I've always been interested in the world of spies. Since the last decade, I've been looking for a project that deals with sleeper spies. The interesting part about such people (sleeper spies) is what happens if they come from a totalitarian situation, go to an enemy country and actually fall in love with that country. "Salt" is about such thing. The story in fact came true in America. In the last two weeks, we have been constantly entertained by the headlines of the arrest of Russian sleeper spies in New York City. The concept of sleeper spies is a lot involved in the world.Q. What are your expectations from Indian audiences for "Salt"?A. Indian audiences love spectacle. They like complicated stories, action and I believe they love Angelina Jolie. I hope that they find this film really entertaining and a wonderful ride like a roller coaster. "Salt" is a very entertaining popcorn thriller and will keep the (Indian) audiences on the edge of their seats.Q. Any plans to ever direct a Bollywood film?A. I think every director in the world would love to direct a Bollywood movie after Danny Boyle made his own version of a Bollywood film with "Slumdog Millionaire"
