Better Breakfast plus Exercise leads you to more fat burning

Change the kind of carbohydrates you start your morning with and you could double the amount of fat you burn during your subsequent walk or workout, according to a study from the University of Nottingham, UK. Earlier research found that fit athletes maximize fat burning when they switch up their carbs-this new study, in beginning exercises, shows that the rest of us can reap the benefit too!

An added bonus:You'll feel less hungry later in the day when you eat the right breakfast, the study suggests. The key: Choose carbs that are digested slowly-that is, unrefined carbs that are high in fibre-instead of ones that your body will burn fast for energy as told by Janis Graham.

"A typical Indian breakfast is a cereal-pulse combinations, which provides carbohydrates as well as proteins, both of which are essential for the start of your day,” says Mumbai nutritionists G. Padma Vijay. However, she suggests these small changes to make your breakfast even more healthful.

Instead of having Rice and Urad dosa, Plain idli, Paratha made with ghee or butter, Aloo paratha, Jalebi and gathias, Poha made with white rice flakes, potato and coconut, have Mixed dal dosa, or add soya flour to regular dosa batter, Mixed-vegetable idli, Paratha made with veg oil, Mixed green-vegetable paratha, Mixed green-vegetables paratha, Mixed fruits with instant cereals, nuts and soyamilk, Poha made with brown rice flakes, vegetables and herbs.
