Rape accused from India appears before Australian court
An Indian taxi driver in Australia, who allegedly raped an Australian national in at a suburb in North Fitzroy on 17 January, 2010, has appeared before a Melbourne Court on Tuesday. Notably, he was extradicated from India in January 2012. According to the newspaper reports, the 25-year-old taxi driver, Jaswinder Singh Mutta was charged with two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault.
Mutta was brought to the court for hearing the case and this was told to him by the judge of the court, which has been trying this case. The judge has also said that the accused and his advocate would be given permission to have an access of the evidence gathered by the police by the end of July 31. Mr. Mutta has been under judicial custody and he didn't apply for a bail.
