Sonia enquires Cong leaders about chances of party victory in by-polls

“How many seats are we going to win in the by-election?” This is apparently the question being asked by the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to all those who have been meeting. With madam asking them such a direct question, the Congress MPs are giving their own opinion. While some are exuding confidence that Congress would sweep all constituencies, some are reportedly of the opinion that Congress may not win the by-polls and a few are presumably saying a couple of seats in by-polls for Congress is sure.

Whose answer should Sonia listen to and stick to has been becoming a hot topic among the political observers in the state.  Meanwhile, Guntur MP Sambasiva Rao has met the Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on Thurday and explained the current situation in the state. The sources close to AICC have said that the situation of the Congress party was reportedly not satisfactory and party may not win more win more than five seats.

The sources have also said that there are so many issues that have been obstructing the party from going into the public. They include Telangana issue, YS Jaganmohan Reddy issue and internal fight among Congress party leaders.

Now that Sonia Gandhi presumably came to know the exact situation in the state, we have to wait and see what steps she’s going to take in order to bring back the lost essence of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh. (Phani)
