Film circles are abuzz that super star Amitabh Bachchan is going to play an important role, though in a few scenes, in the multilingual movie ‘Rana’, that features the much acclaimed southern super star Rajanikanth in the lead role.

Sources revealed that Amitabh has accepted the request of Rajanikanth, who has penned the story of the movie, to take up a small but very important role that would enthrall the audiences in the second half.

Amitabh and Rajanikanth acted together in some super hit Hindi movies such as ‘Andha Kanoon’, ‘Giraftar’ and ‘Hum’ in the past and they are coming together again after several years to provide lots of entertainment to the Indian audiences.

‘Rana’, which will be directed by veteran K.S. Ravi Kumar, features Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan and Rekha in some of the key roles.

Oscar award winner AR Rahman will be the music composer for this film while noted camera man Ratnavelu will look after camera. Hollywood technician Charles Darby will direct the special effects.

Eros International is producing the movie in collaboration with Rajini's daughter Soundarya Rajanikanth.
