Killing People In The Name Of “Gau Bhakti” Is Unacceptable : Modi June 29, 2017 17:28

Killing People In The Name Of “Gau Bhakti” Is Unacceptable : Modi:- Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi breaking his silence on cow vigilantes on Thursday said, killing people in the name of “gau bhakti” is not acceptable. Modi, who arrived in Gujarat on Thursday on a two-day visit, addressing a gathering at the Sabarmati Ashram set up by Mahatma Gandhi, he said: “As a society, there is no place for violence.” “Killing people in the name of ‘gau bhakti’ (cow worship) is not acceptable. This is not something Mahatma Gandhi would approve.” No one spoke about protecting cows more than Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave, underlined Mr. Modi. “Yes, it should be done,” he said. But “we are a land of non-violence. We are a land of Mahatma Gandhi. Why do we forget that? Modi in clear reference to the increasing cases of murderous attacks on people in the name of cow protection added, “Today, I want to say a few words and express sadness on some of the things going on.” “Violence never has and never will solve any problem. No person in this nation has the right to take the law in his or her own hands. “Let us all work together. Let us create the India of Mahatma Gandhi’s dreams. Let us create an India our freedom fighters will be proud of,” Modi said. In the wake of criticism, Modi’s remarks anticipate significance that he and his government have maintained silence about the violence by cow vigilantes who have lynched people in various places. The cow vigilantes claim to be acting to defend an animal which Hindus consider sacred. It may be recalled that a cattle rearer Pehlu Khan belonging to Haryana was lynched to death by alleged cow vigilantes at Alwar town in Rajasthan in April. Pehlu was transporting cows with a valid documents in a van. Another horrific incident in Delhi train a week ago in which a teenager Junaid was lynched by mob for the reason that the family was carrying beef. SUPRAJA

PM Modi Hails Completion Of Sardar Sarovar Dam Project On Narmada River June 29, 2017 15:32

PM Modi Hails Completion Of Sardar Sarovar Dam Project On Narmada River:- Referring it as a “big achievement”, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on Thursday acclaimed the completion of the Sardar Sarovar Dam Project on the Narmada River. Modi further said that the project dispensation in the next 10 years, will take Gujarat to new heights, under the BJP dispensation. The Prime Minister who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat addressed the party workers at the city airport this morning upon his arrival. He further appreciated the past state governments, including that of the Congress, for their efforts in completion of the project. The Gujarat Government, on June 17, obtained permission from the Centre to close the gates of the controversy-hit structure, thus marking the “completion” of the project, almost 56 years after the foundation stone for the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River was laid. Modi said, “The Narmada (dam) project is truly a big achievement. The next decade will surely be a journey to convert this achievement into prosperity. And I am confident that under BJP’s leadership during the next ten years, Gujarat will touch new heights with this project at the core.” In 1961, the then Prime Minister Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for the dam, and with the permission to close its 30 gates by the Modi-led government, it took 56 years for the dam to be completed. The height of one of the biggest water reservoirs in the country will be 138 metres and the storage capacity of 4.75 million cubic metres (MCM), with the closing of the gates. In 1996, after the Narmada Bachao Andolan activists obtained a stay order from the apex court, the construction work of the dam was suspended, which further raised environmental and rehabilitation issues. The Supreme Court in October 2000 passed an order in favor of the construction of the dam that the work on it had resumed. However, a condition was set by the apex court that permission to increase the dam’s height would be given in parts after the project-affected-people are resettled or compensated. “All the past state governments, be it of any party, tried their best to resolve the issue of this project. However, they eventually hit roadblocks. But now, we are witnessing the climax. This project will add a new dimension to Gujarat’s journey of growth,” Modi said. Recalling his days as Gujarat chief minister prior to 2014, Modi said most states as well as the previous Central governments could not understand the gravity of the situation arising out of scarcity of water in Gujarat. “Water has always remained a challenge in Gujarat’s growth journey. When I was the chief minister and used to attend meetings with the central government over the issue, I used to tell them how we are experiencing difficulties in carrying out developmental works due to scarcity of water,” said Modi. “But, the Centre as well as some state governments could not understand how grave the situation was. That is why people of Gujarat fully understand the importance of water,” he said.Modi said he will come back soon to dedicate the project to the nation. “After closing the gates of the dam, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani called me and invited me to dedicate the project to the nation. My office will get back to him in the coming days to allot a date, so that I can get a chance to come back and witness the commencement of Gujarat’s journey of development,” he said. Earlier, Chief Minister Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, several ministers and state BJP leaders welcomed Modi on his arrival here. SUPRAJA

The equipment for meteorological data relay and satellite based search is also being carried by the communication satellite and rescue services being provided by earlier INSAT satellites. From the Ariane Launch Complex No 3 (ELA 3) at Kourou, a French territory located in northeastern coast of South America, the European launcher Arianespace Flight VA238 blasted off at 2:45 am IST. The scheduled launch time was 2:29. After orbiting co-passenger Hellas Sat 3-Inmarsat S EAN in a flawless flight lasting about 39 minutes, the GSAT-17 was injected shortly. The city headquartered ISRO announced after the mission, “GSAT-17 successfully launched by Ariane-5 VA-238 from Kourou, French Guiana.” Immediately after its separation from the launch vehicle, the command and control of GSAT-17 was taken over by ISRO’s Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan in Karnataka. The preliminary health checks of the satellite revealed its normal functioning. GSAT-17 that will change the ISRO’s current assemblage of 17 telecommunications satellites was launched into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). This month, this was the third satellite launch mission by ISRO. GSLV MKIII and PSLV C-38 missions, which were lifted both from Sriharikota spaceport were the other two first developmental flights. On June 5, the GSLV MKIII successfully launched GSAT-19 satellite, while on June 23 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, the PSLV-C38 orbited Cartosat-2 Series satellite along with 30 co-passenger satellites. Its design in-orbit operational life is about 15 years. In the coming days, by using the satellite’s propulsion system in steps, the orbit raising manoeuvres will be performed to place GSAT-17 satellite in the Geostationary Orbit (36,000 km above the equator), the space agency has said. The two solar arrays and both the antenna reflectors of GSAT- 17, during the final stages of its orbit raising operations, will be deployed and following this, the satellite will be put in its final orbital configuration. At its designated orbital slot in the geostationary orbit, the GSAT-17 will be positioned and will with some of the Indian operational geostationary satellites, it will be co-located. To turn on the communication payloads of the satellite, is later planned. GSAT-17 will be ready for operational use, after the successful completion of all the in-orbit tests. Produced by Thales Alenia Space for Hellas Sat and Inmarsat, GSAT-17’s co-passenger Hellas Sat 3-Inmarsat S EAN is a two-payload “condosat”.
