K Kavitha Arrested By CBI Inside Tihar Jail:- K Kavitha, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has been apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) within Tihar Jail on charges of money laundering. This case is linked to the Delhi liquor policy. The arrest follows a recent interrogation of Kavitha by the investigative agency while she was in judicial custody. Kavitha, who is the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been accused of being a significant member of the "South Group." This group is alleged to have paid the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi a substantial sum of ₹ 100 crore in exchange for a major stake in liquor licenses in the nation's capital. She was remanded to 14-day judicial custody last Tuesday. Earlier, on March 15, the Enforcement Directorate had arrested her from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Recently, CBI officials were granted permission by a special court to question Kavitha within the prison. The interrogation focused on WhatsApp conversations found on the phone of co-accused Buchi Babu, as well as documents related to a land transaction. It is alleged that ₹ 100 crore was paid to the AAP as kickbacks in order to influence the excise policy in favor of a liquor lobby in Delhi. In 13 out of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, women voters outnumber men, indicating that the Congress party is likely to receive a higher percentage of the female vote. In the recent Assembly elections, the Congress party triumphed in 37 out of 56 constituencies where women voters surpassed men, clearly demonstrating the extensive support base it has built through the implementation of Mahalakshmi, Gruhalakshmi, and Indiramma Houses programs. According to the most recent voter data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in March for the Lok Sabha elections, there are more female voters than male voters in Adilabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Zaheerabad, Medak, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Bhongir, Warangal, Mahbubabad, and Khammam constituencies. In these constituencies, women have the potential to play a crucial role in determining the political fate of parties. As of February this year, the total number of voters in the state stands at 3,29,19,735. Out of this, women voters make up 1,65,87,221, while men voters are 1,64,31,777, and there are 2,737 third gender voters. The number of women voters exceeds that of men by 1,55,444, and this gap is expected to increase further before the polling takes place. Notably, the Nizamabad constituency has the highest margin with 90,953 more female voters compared to male voters. To attract the attention of women voters, the Congress, BJP, and BRS are going the extra mile. The Congress is aggressively promoting the Mahalakshmi scheme, which offers free travel in TSRTC buses. They highlight that nearly 30 lakh women have benefitted from this scheme since its launch on December 9, 2023, resulting in a total savings of Rs 1,177 crore in travel expenses within four months. On average, each household saves up to Rs 2,000 per month in travel expenses. Additionally, nearly 40 lakh households are availing gas cylinders at a subsidized rate of Rs 500 each.

EC suspends 106 govt employees in Telangana:- On Tuesday, the Election Commission suspended a total of 106 government employees in Telangana's Siddipet district for violating the model code of conduct. This action was taken after the employees attended a meeting organized by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which was called by P Venkatarami Reddy, a former IAS officer-turned-politician and BRS candidate for the Medak Lok Sabha seat. Reddy and another BRS leader were also accused of holding the meeting without permission from the election authorities, resulting in an FIR being filed against them. The suspension of the government employees came after a complaint was lodged by the BJP candidate for the Medak Lok Sabha seat, M Raghunandan Rao. Rao alleged that the staff of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) had attended a meeting where money was distributed. Upon investigation, the district returning officer's flying squad found that 10-15 employees were present at the function hall. CCTV footage retrieved from the function hall owner confirmed that 106 government employees had attended the meeting and money had been exchanged. As a result, all of them were suspended on Tuesday. The former Siddipet collector, who later ran for MLC with the BRS, found himself in a controversy when he paid his respects to the former chief minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, by touching his feet. BRS to be renamed back as TRS:- It seemed inevitable that after suffering a devastating defeat in the 2023 assembly election, BRS would be renamed TRS. The prevailing sentiment was that Telangana natives should not possess the BRS name change. Although this development has been widely discussed in recent weeks, both KCR and KTR have remained silent on the matter until now. However, putting an end to the anticipation today, KTR all but confirmed that BRS would revert back to being called TRS. This revelation occurred when he was asked about the significant number of BRS leaders defecting to the Congress. In response to this inquiry, KTR stated, "Our party has endured for 24 years, through both good times and bad. TRS-BRS will remain loyal to the people of Telangana until the very end." On April 8, the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court rejected BRS leader K Kavitha's request for interim bail in the money-laundering case related to the abolished Delhi excise policy. Previously, Kavitha had asked the court to overturn its decision allowing the CBI to question her in Tihar jail. Her lawyer, Advocate Nitesh Rana, claimed that the CBI had violated the proper legal process by seeking permission to interrogate her without her knowledge. Rana expressed concerns that the CBI may have concealed certain facts to obtain a favorable court order. As the CBI investigates the corruption aspect of the excise policy scandal, Rana requested that the court suspend its previous order until Kavitha's position could be heard. The next hearing was scheduled for April 10, as the CBI needed time to respond to Kavitha's plea. However, Judge Kaveri Baweja did not grant any temporary relief to Kavitha in the ED and CBI cases. ED arrested K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in Hyderabad on charges of money laundering. She was then taken into judicial custody for 14 days. Kavitha's bail plea was submitted to the court on April 4, requesting an extension due to her son's exams. She claimed that her son required her "moral and emotional support". Kavitha is believed to be a prominent member of the alleged "South Group", accused of providing kickbacks of ₹100 crore to the ruling AAP in exchange for a significant portion of liquor licenses in Delhi.
