Advani on Jan Chetna yatra against corruption, minor setback

AdvaniVeteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and former Dy. Prime Minister, Shri Lal Krishna Advani embarks on a nationwide Yatra on Tuesday from Sitab Diara in Bihar. The yatra had to face mild disturbances on Wednesday, as the modified bus on its way from Patna to Ara town damaged after it got stuck under a British-era iron bridge. The bus was held up for 30 minutes. The vehicle also hit a tree as it was approaching a public meeting venue in Ara, the district headquarters of Bhojpur. After the accident, mechanics were called in for repairs. Inspite of a new rath from Karnataka the leader stuck to his old one after repairs.

It may be noted that the yatra is a 12,000 km journey across the country. Mr. Advani began his anti-corruption yatra by addressing a large gathering along with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Sitab Diara in Saran district. The purpose of Jan Chetna Yatra is to mobilise public opinion against corruption of present government and put BJP agenda of good governance and clean politics before the people. A large number of BJP leaders, workers and hundreds of people from villages thronged the meeting area. The campaign is Mr. Advani's sixth since his 1990 Ram Rath Yatra. Mr. Advani, along with Mr. Kumar and top BJP leaders, formally commenced his 40-day campaign from Chapra, with Mr. Kumar flagging off the ‘chariot' with a green flag.
