NRI lawyer convicted in US

An Indian lawyer in the United States of America has been convicted of eight felony charges and one misdemeanor for allegedly getting admitted into British Bar by using fake experience and age certificates. Named Soma Sengupta, the woman is now behind the bars. The court would sentence the quantum of punishment on March 22.

It was reported that Sengupta has completed her graduation in 1999 from Georgetown Law School. She was said to have passed the bar exam in 2000 and then worked as a para legal assistant. Although she had no experience in trying the case, Ms Sengupta applied to the British Bar and claimed that she was a proficient trial lawyer. She exaggerated her education with fake documents.

A resident of New Jersey, Sengupta got admitted into 10 years and for these past ten years, she had been piling up lie upon lie, observed court.

While some NRIs are trying hard to bring name and fame to India, some are just bringing in the bad name to the country.
