Prominent Actor Girish Karnad Passed Away:- It is a great loss for Indian cinema today as the veteran actor, theatre artist, writer and director Girish Karnad passed away during the early hours of today in his Bengaluru residence. The actor has been unwell from some time and he passed away due to multiple organ failure. Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy announced a holiday for the state on the sudden demise of Girish Karnad. Kumaraswamy also announced that he would be cremated with state honors after three days of mourning.

Girish Karnad received Padma Shri award twice and was the recipient of Padma Bhushan and Jnanapit Awards. Condolences poured in from all the corners of the country. Girish Karnad wrote number of plays acted in theatre acts after which he made his debut in films. Girish Karnad also directed several Kannada films for which he received number of awards and honors. He is survived by his wife Saraswathi and a son, daughter. Girish Karnad will be cremated today at Baiyappanahalli crematorium in East Bengaluru later this evening. Rest in Peace Girish Karnad.
