The adorable couple of the B-town, Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan were granted divorce by the principal marriage counselor VS Athavale of the Family Court in Mumbai on May 11.

Their meeting with the prinicipal counselor lasted for five minutes, and then they got separated officially, leaving behind their eighteen years of marriage. Malaika has got the physical custody of their 14-year-old son, though Arbaaz has been granted the permission to have access to his son whenever he wants to. The actress did not seek any alimony or property from Arbaaz, a leading daily quoted a source.

Since the couple have parted ways officially, Malaika Arora does not want to carry the baggage of the “Khan” surname with her name and wants to discontinue it.

Recently, Malaika was invited as a chief guest for an event in Vadodara and the name plate at her chair read “Malaika Arora Khan”, says reports. The actress apparently was not comfortable with this gesture and immediately asked the organizers to remove the “Khan” from her name.

However, the organizers made the desired changes. Well, there is nothing wrong in demanding her name being changed, since she has legally broken ties with her ex-husband Arbaaz Khan. However, what irks is her social media handle, which still identifies her as Malaika Arora Khan.

The couple were last seen together at the Justin Bieber concert which was held a day before their divorce at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The couple had a love marriage in 1998 and filed for a divorce through mutual consent in November 2016.

It was abuzz that their families were looking for reconciliation, but it did not work. The couple always remained cordial with each other, despite the fluctuating relationship they shared.
