Even actress Sonam Kapoor asked Prime Minister Narendra on social media to stand up for Bollywood. Almost a year ago the prime minister had posted a message on Twitter that read, “Art can’t have any restrictions or limits: PM @narendramodi”.

Sonam Kapoor took the screenshot of that message and posted it on her social media account by captioning it as, “A gentle reminder sir… a couple of days after republic day if we as an industry have to deal with such humiliation for expressing ourselves, it’s frankly very disheartening. Please stand up for us.. #padmavati”.

The protestors belonged to Karni Sena who were highly upset, with the movie.  Apparently, the film has love scenes between Queen Padmini and emperor Alauddin Khilji played by actress Deepika Padukone and actor Ranveer Singh. Due to which the protestors felt that it was an insult to the historic story and they wanted SLB to delete all those scenes.

The leader of the group Narayan Singh said, “We had warned the filmmaker against presenting wrong facts. When we came to know about the shooting, we gathered there and protested,” reports NDTV.

The report further states that "after the incident, the shoot has been called off and even the director has decided to stop shooting in that area. The crew would be returning to Mumbai. For more updates, keep watching this space."
