Celebs and Politicians Pay Last Rites to Balamuralikrishna

Everyone was shocked when they heard the news of a death of popular Carnatic music legend M Balamuralikrishna on Tuesday.A large number of people bid a tearful adieu after his body was cremated on Wednesday.

Political leaders and celebrities also attended the funeral condoling his death. Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, J Jayalalithaa and N Chandrababu Naidu, respectively visited the last rituals.

Union Minister M Venkiah Naidu and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi were among others had condoled his death yesterday.

Even singers K J Yesudas and Mano, actors Kamal Haasan and Sivakumar, musician Ilayaraja, Director Vasanth and vocalist Sudha Raghunathan were among those who paid tributes to Balamuralikrishna at his residence.

DMK President M Karunanidhi also condoled the veteran musician's death.

Balamuralikrishna started his musical journey when he was six-year-old, He grew to be one of the best names in the profession, leaving his mark in the field of Carnatic music.

He has composed over 400 songs in various languages like Telugu, Sanskrit, Kannada and Tamil besides playing various instruments.

This included devotional to varnams, krithis, javalis and thillanas in all the major 72 melakartha ragas.

He was a prominent figure in Carnatic music world and was loved equally by the masses and connoisseurs.
