Official: SRK’s Raees postponed

Raees, SRK’s most anticipated movie, which was scheduled for release on Eid, has now shifted to the next year, clearing the road for Salman Khan’s Sultan.

Eid is one such season, which is witnessing Salman Khan’s new release, most of the years. Even this year, Sultan makers had planned to release their film on the same festival.

Since then, the speculations on the clash of two big Khans movies on same season went viral. Analysts opined that, it would be a great loss to both the films, as sharing the collections would be tough.

So unwilling to disturb the tradition of Salman Khan, reportedly it was SRK, who suggested the Raees makers to shift the movie release to January 26th, 2017.

An official statement from the producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, who co-own Excel Entertainment, and SRK reads, “It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that Raees is highly anticipated. However, a film of such magnitude requires appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017.”

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees shows, a man’s journey from that of a bootlegger to a politician. Mahira Khan, a Pakistani actress, is chosen as the female lead and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is playing the role of a police officer.
