Film, TV shootings suspended in Maha

The shootings of films and small screen were hit by indefinite strike by as the cine workers have called for strike. This protest is made after five members of Federation of Western India Cine Employees [FWICE)] were arrested on Tuesday on the charges of assaulting but the police have released them on bail the following evening itself. Among the arrested 'Range De Basanthi' screenwriter Kamalesh Pandey who is also the president of FWICE was one.

Going by the details, Gangeshwar Shrivastav who heads the rival trade union and his associates were expelled from FWICE on the charges of corruption and criminal record. But Shrivastav approached the Registrar of the Trade union and the case came to hearing on Tuesday. Shrivastav and FWICE members had an verbal altercation which led to arrest of six members of the latter union.

Fumed by this, the cine workers have called for a strike and demanded action against Registrar and Shrivastav for framing charges on FWICE members. The workers alleged that a BJP party related person has helped in arresting their union members.
