India seemed to have realized the importance of assuming responsibility and play a neat game to keep the 1985 record going. The players have been performing well on the bowling front as they restricted the Poms to a meager 199 with only five wickets left in hand.

Major players like Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Alastair Cook and others were dismissed in the first day of the test, ensuring that the Indian cricket team stays ahead. If the same bowling spirit continues, the batting of England would collapse before lunch time.

Kevin Pietersen who looked dangerous with his bat was dismissed by a clever ball from Jadeja, who also pocketed another very important wicket of Trott. Chawla sent Bell back to the pavilion while Ishant Sharma also managed to claim two wickets; Compton and Cook.
