Unmukt Chand who captained the U 19 World Cup winning team for the nation, was a global hero. But back home the young lad was denied his promotion into second year of graduation in the Delhi University, due to lack of sufficient attendance. Even the local Uttarakhand  government  honored the maestro with Rs 11 lakh cash award. But his College Principal denied the rightful promotion of this young lad who was out on a mission. The action of the college attracted severe criticism from many contemporaries across the nation.

Chiefly, Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken and Team India MS Dhoni had come out in support of the young cricketer.  However relenting to pressures the authorities have bent rules for this young hero. Finally St Stephen College of Delhi announced that the cricketing colt shall be promoted.

However the announcement earlier by the University attracted the wrath of fans and few went bold enough to talk about the cheap gimmicks of the college. They said that the decision 'not to promote' was wantedly  announced to attract media lime light for the concerned. They said it was one of the cheap tricks played by them.
